Pre-Hear: Gamification in audiology

Pre-Hear

Gamification in audiology – apps for better understanding of cortical organization. Can young children find it easier to go for a hearing test with the help of an app? Can their parents get a better understanding of what happens in the brain when a child has a hearing loss, via their mobile phone?

The research project Pre-Hear uncovers that. Today, most children with hearing loss are diagnosed before they are 6 months old due to the Danish neonatal hearing screening. However, there is still a great need to develop innovative, up-to-date and age-appropriate materials that support the understanding and diagnosis of children with hearing loss, in a medium that their families feel at home in and that is easily accessible and useful for the professionals around the children.

The 2-year research project is supported by the GN Foundation and is led as a partnership between Center for Hearing and Balance (CHBC) the Multisensory Experience lab (ME-lab).
